Although Flos are relatively new to the production of designer lighting (a mere 50 years), they are very much at the forefront of the industry in terms of quality and original design. Flos’s design heritage was originally based around the talents of the three Castiglioni brothers, Achille being the most influential. During their reign the Castiglioni’s laid the design foundations for much of the work still being interpreted by the design partnerships Flos has today (Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, Antonio Citterio, Marcel Wanders, Sebastian Wrong, Piero Lissoni, Rodolfo Dordoni, Barber & Osgerby, Patricia Urquiola, Paul Cocksedge and Ron Gilad amongst others). Evidence of this can be seen by comparing Castiglionis’ Teraxacum pendant with the modern day reinterpretation by Marcel Wanders- The Zeppelin. Flos’ pedigree in iconic and ground-breaking is undisputed. One need only look at the instantly recognisable Flos Arco lamp on the lightmyhome.co.uk ‘Iconic Lighting’ page to understand what we are dealing with here. They are unfussy, beautiful, finely crafted pieces of design history.
